Today, in the center of Uzhgorod young girls and boys offered free hugs to everyone. Uzhgorod youth decided to take part in the popular worldwide flash mob "Free hugs". January 21 is the International Day of Hugs.
This year the regional center of Transcarpathia also joined the celebration. The event was initiated by first year students of medical faculty Nadiya Vats and Oksana Patalay as well as the organization "Carpathian Sich." In total, the event was attended by about a dozen young people. With posters in their hands they approached passersby and offered them hugs. Not everyone agreed – many people were frankly frightened by the offer. But there were plenty of those who hugged with pleasure and walked away with smiles on their faces. All in all, the "hugging" debut in Uzhgorod can be considered successful.
Note. The first such flashmob took place in 2004 in Australia. It was initiated by Juan Mann. However, the event gained popularity two years later, thanks to the music clip of the Australian band Sick Puppies. "Free hugs" came to Ukraine in 2008. The event was organized in Simferopol.
