The Russian, who had been wanted by Interpol, was arrested in Transcarpathia

Recently, border guards of the Chop detachment arrested two men for attempting to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

Around the midnight the border guard unit detected the tracks of unknown persons and immediately reported it to the unit. In a few minutes, during search activities, the operational team found and arrested two unidentified men on their way to Slovakia.

The detainees told border guards that they did not have any documents, but said that one of them was a citizen of Ukraine, a local resident, and another one was a Russian citizen. The detainees were taken to the unit in order to establish all the circumstances of the offense.

During the verification measures it was found out that the man was wanted by law enforcement agencies of Russia for offences under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

After the identification of the said foreigner, receipt of a copy of the Interpol warrant for his arrest and bringing him to administrative responsibility under Art. 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences, the latter was handed over to representatives of MIA for further steps for extradition to the country of origin.
