Pshonka said that 177 million hryvnias were stolen at road the construction

General Prosecutor of Ukraine declared about the revealed facts of inflated scope and cost of road works totaling almost 177 million hryvnias. Pshonka told about the faults of Ukravtodor.

According to the press service of the GPU, this was announced today by the Prosecutor General Victor Pshonka during the board meeting, where they discussed the effectiveness of executive authorities and local government use of subsidies allocated by the state to local budgets for construction, repair and maintenance of municipal streets and roads.

According to V.Pshonka, employees of General Prosecution were sent in the regions to study the situation. Following the inspections, particularly in Vinnytsya, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv regions, specific facts of public procurement in violation of the relevant procedures worth more than 45 million hryvnias were found. "As a result, they entered into the Unified register of pre-trial investigations the information about 3 crimes, committed by officials of Ukravtodor regional departments, and stated a claim for recovery of funds amounting to more than 1 million hryvnias" – the General Prosecutor said.

Moreover, V.Pshonka noted that because of lack of control over the use of public funds on part of heads of Ukravtodor regional departments, often the works performed were not confirmed by primary accounting documents. "Such violations were detected in all regions of the country. Overstating of the scope and cost of work amounted to nearly 177 million hryvnias," – he said.
