In Transcarpathia, number of strokes has increased. People should blame themselves

Last year in the region there were more than 2260 strokes. 80% of them were ischemic – the regional freelance neurologist Oleksandr Pulyk announced today, January 24, during a meeting with journalists.

The physician attributes this fact to the lack of health awareness among the population – few people monitor their health condition before illness strikes. Therefore, when a person suffers a stroke, it is hard to immediately identify it. So the doctor stresses the first signs of this disease: speech or word understanding impairment, loss of consciousness, weakness or limb numbness and so on. If you experience even one of these symptoms, immediately call an ambulance because the sooner drug treatment starts, the more likely it is to avoid the negative consequences of the disease: paralysis, or even worse – death.
