Every third offense in the region is unsolved, as well as all car arsons - prosecutors
The Senior prosecutor of the region is concerned that every third offense in Transcarpathia remained unsolved and focused attention on the problem of intentional damage to property (especially, to cars by arson) - actually none of such offenses has been solved.
On today's coordination meeting at the prosecutors office of Transcarpathian region they talked about the fight against crime, including its organized forms and combating illegal gambling business. The meeting was attended by heads of regional law enforcement authorities, Deputy Chief of the Transcarpathian Court of Appeal Fedir Votkanych, Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Igor Svyshcho and Transcarpathian regional council chairman Ivan Baloha.
Opening the meeting, the prosecutor of Transcarpathia Anatoly Petrunya said that the law enforcement authorities of the region had revealed 9 organized crime groups, including one in the economy field, one was formed on ethnic basis, and two had international connections.
There was a decrease in reported crimes from 6766 to 5722, or -15.4% (overall in the country - 6.6%).
The crime rate per 10 thousand population is 45.7%, which is one of the lowest figures in the country.
However, the criminal situation in the region remains tense, the work of law enforcement agencies require substantial improvement. In particular, the regional prosecutor is concerned that every third offense remained unsolved. The state of affairs in the field of land relations and the identification of organized criminal groups in state and local government is also disturbing. Combating against illegal gambling business must be more effective. Last year, the police resolved only 15 such crimes.
The prosecutor of Transcarpathia focused special attention on the issue of intentional damage to property (especially, to cars by arson). In fact, every such crime remains unsolved.
