The other day in Uzhgorod City Perinatal Center (UCPC) there was a medical council, where they summarized the work of the medical institution in the past year. The council was also attended by the newly appointed head of the health department of Uzhgorod City Council Miroslava Bretsko.

Following the meeting it was stated: last year, the performance of the city perinatal center significantly improved. Thus, during 2012, the record number of babies in the history of UCPC were born there, - the chief doctor of Uzhgorod City Perinatal Center Andriy Chaban reported after the meeting.

"Over the past year, 3944 babies were born here, including 61 cases of twins and 1 case of triplets. Increasing number of births is attributed not to the increase of birthrate in Uzhgorod, but to referrals to the medical institution of mothers from other localities, including - in severe cases. Now the center also performs the function of the Regional Perinatal Center" - Andriy Chaban said.

Other performance characteristics of the center have also improved. Last year, for example, they achieved the reduction of perinatal mortality and stillborn children. There were zero cases of maternal death in the center.
Andriy Chaban attributes the improvments in the performance of the institution to professional and harmonious work of the staff. Therefore, he thanked his colleagues for diligence and efforts to create the best conditions for mothers in Uzhgorod.
