In Uzhgorod, a pensioner was robbed of a gas boiler

Recently, a local resident reported to Uzhgorod police that in his absence unknown persons, by breaking the door, had stolen a gas boiler, which was in the basement.

The 66-year-old victim was waiting for the police near the house he lives in. The man told the police that recently after replacing an old boiler with a new one, he had started looking for buyers for the boiler that has been in use. Until the potential buyer is found, the pensioner kept it in the basement.     While the man was waiting, a clever thief managed to steal the gas boiler.

Thanks to professional actions of Uzhgorod police detectives, this theft was solved. In the course of search activities, the policemen found out that the criminal offense had been committed by a 25-year-old previously convicted resident of Uzhgorod.   He was able not only to steal, but also to sell the boiler.

Currently, the offender explains everything to the police officers. The physical evidence was seized. The choice of a preventive measure is being decided.

This incident was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations, and criminal proceeding under Part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft, combined with breaking and entering into dwelling, other premises or warehouse causing substantial damage to the victim), punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years, was opened - Diana Dorohiy, Uzhgorod police department informed.
