A woman can be imprisoned for 5 years for child abduction

Prosecutors of Uzhgorod registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations of the information on the criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful imprisonment or kidnapping of a minor – punishable by restriction of freedom for up to five years, or imprisonment for the same term).

 It was preceded by the complaint, which was received on August 15, by Uzhgorod District Police from a 35-year-old resident of Uzhgorod.In particular, he asked to take measures against a 36-year-old resident of village of Korytnyany who had willfully abducted his 11-year-old daughter from the yard of the house and for more than two hours held the girl in the car and threatened her with death.The course of the pre-trial investigation of the criminal offense is controlled by Uzhgorod Prosecutor. Also, Prosecutors of Uzhgorod sent to Uzhgorod City Police Department the request to conduct internal check on the causes of improper consideration of the compalint of the child’s father. The police officers, following their investigation, brought the woman only to administrative responsibility for arbitrariness in spite of the fact that the act contained signs of a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Source – Press Office of Uzhgorod Prosecutors
