On October 6, during the celebration of the Real Day of the City, the Safe Ride race was held in Uzhgorod – the last massed ride in this season. It was held under the motto "Being healthy is cool." Over a hundred cyclists, including children, took place in the bike ride.
The ride was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and prevention of diabetes and obesity. The event, where everyone could check their weight and measure blood sugar, was organized in co-operation with NGOs, Diabetes Union of Uzhgorod, the Regional Health Center, Transcarpathian Regional Hospital, and international companies.
Another feature of this ride was that the city received "Social bikes" for free use. These bikes can be used both within and beyond the city. Every resident of Uzhgorod from now can ride it for free. To do this, they have to submit their passport number in the program and rent the bike (for up to three days). You can find a bike and learn details at the Department of Tourism of UzhNU.
