As part of the joint project "Social and legal integration of Roma in public life of Ukraine, preserving ethnic and cultural uniqueness of the Roma people", which is being implemented by the Foundation "Rozvytok" and Mukachevo City Council, they launched the first ever in the settlement spring cleaning - waste removal.

This work is coordinated by representatives of the NGO "Rozvytok" and the elder of the Roma settlement Oleksandr Baloh, who organized Roma and mobilized the whole settlers for daily street cleaning. Even little kids work.

The main achievement of the general cleaning is the removal of garbage from a huge dump (1,200 square meters and a height of over two meters), which for the past 20 years has not been removed and is a source of dangerous infections (tuberculosis, hepatitis A). 19 truckloads of garbage have already been taken out. They plan to take out the garbage every day for the next two weeks, Natalia Kozyr, the coordinator of projects of the "Rozvytok" Foundation said.

Now, there are about 6 unauthorized landfill sites in the settlement, which also must be removed. Once, the whole camp is cleaned, they will carry out sanitary disinfection of the spontaneous landfill locations, and then install trash bins there.
