Ivan Popovich’s festival cost Uzhgorod 73,000 UAH

The III Open International Festival of Arts "Ivan Popovich gathers talents", which this year was held in Uzhgorod, on the occasion of 1120th anniversary of the city, cost Transcarpathian taxpayers 73,000 UAH. This amount, instead of the planned 20,000, was allocated by the Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda. The reason for such rapid, almost fourfold, increase is unknown. The money from the regional budget was allocated through the regional program of culture and art development, and 73,000 Ivan Popovich’s festival was supposed "to meet the spiritual needs of the people," – the governor’s order states.

At the festival, the winners received presents, bought at the expense of the regional budget, from People’s Deputy Oleksandr Antal, while Stepan Derkach was the co-founder of the festival – the press service of the regional council deputy from Khust reported.
