For refusing to accept cards shops should pay $ 1000 fine!
In case of failure to accept payment cards, shops will be fined in the amount of 8,500 UAH.
This is stated in the notice of the State Service for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship Development. As it notes, the regulation that establishes administrative responsibility for traders in case of failure to accept payment for goods or services by electronic means has entered into force.
Thus, according to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers № 727 "On Amendments to § 2 of the provisions on the imposition and collection of fines for violations of the rights of consumers", the restriction or denial of the rights of consumers to free choice of products and forms of payment shall be punished with fine in amount of five hundred tax-free minimum incomes, that is 8,500 UAH.
So, now consumers can demand from all undertakings, where there are cash registers, to accept payment in electronic from. In case of refusal, consumers can seek protection of their rights at the State Inspectorate of Ukraine on Consumer Protection, the statement specifies.
