In Irshava district, juveniles robbed pensioners

Officers of Irshava district police Ivan Heletey and Ivan Vartsaba detained two minors from the village of Osiy for committing the theft of two mobile phones and a scooter from pensioner couple's home.

It was after midnight when the boys slipped into the pensioners' house through the unlocked window of the summer kitchen, and stole two mobile phones right from the table. After that they went outside through the front door, where the scooter was standing under the canopy. They did not want to start it in the yard so as not to cause a noise, and brought it out into the street. But they were starting it long enough so that the retirees' neighbor woke up from a loud noise and went outside. Seeing the teenagers, the man began to shout at them. Frightened, the boys left the scooter and fled, and the neighbor meanwhile called the police.

The investigative team of Irshava district police arrived at the scene immediately. The neighbor recognized the retirees' scooter, but when the police arrived, the couple did not know that they had been robbed.  Then, the old man discovered the theft of two mobile phones.

Thanks to the professional actions of Ivan Vartsaba and Ivan Heletey, the theft was solved in hot pursuit. The victims told the police that a village boy, who lives nearby, would often drop in to help.

Once the police went in the boy's house, he realized everything and admitted to having committed the crime.  The young thief returned the stolen mobile phones - Vita Horzov, Irshava District Police reported.

The investigator Hennadiy Turina registered this fact in the Unified register of pre-trial investigation and opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art.185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft, coupled with breaking and entering).

- Young robbers face the punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to six years - the first deputy chief of Irshava District Police Lt. Col. Myron Chernychko said.
