The company chief reported this fact to the police. As it turned out, the thieves committed the offense for the second time: before that they had stolen six arborvitae in early November. The total amount of damage was over 1,500 UAH.
At the scene, the police found out that the office was equipped with CCTV system and the camera recorded the thief. After reviewing the video, the police learned that both thefts had been committed by one and the same person.
Soon, the suspect was identified. It was a 44-year-old local woman who led a vagabond life. With no means of livelihood, she decided to make some money by stealing the trees. She took the stolen young seedlings to the city center, where she sold them to bystanders. She spent the money for her own needs - Diana Dorohiy, Uzhgorod City Police reported.
This fact was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations, and the criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft), which provides for a fine penalty up to fifty tax-free minimum incomes, correctional labor for up to two years, or imprisonment for a term up to three years.
