Only slightly more than half of Transcarpathian preschoolers attend kindergartens

Responding to questions from journalists on the situation with the lack of seats in kindergartens of the region, at the press conference on March 5, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration told that the main task of the authorities is to increase the number of groups and improve the conditions of education in kindergartens in the shortest possible time:

   – Currently, only slightly more than half of preschool children attend kindergartens. In about 10% of schools in the region we can create combined educational institutions "kindergarten – primary school". There is no need for significant funds to reconstruct and refit the premises, and thus to form groups for 40 children – is costs 600-800 thousand. Building a kindergarten "from scratch" would take at least 5-6 million. So now we are creating kindergartens by reconstruction and refurbishment, – Oleksandr Ledyda said.
