In Uzhgorod, carriers will be working under new conditions

The city is adjusting the rules for carriers – today at the meeting of the executive committee they considered the draft decision "On terms and conditions of the tender for passengers trasportation."

The tender will be carried out for three routes: № № 9, 18, 158. From now on the city buses must have at least 18 seats. They must be equipped with GPS-navigator and DVR. And one bus on the route must be adapted to transport people with disabilities.

This is the first step towards the introduction of "social transportation", adapted for the disabled – the mayor said.

According to the Deputy Mayor Yuri Belyakov, who is in charge of transport field in the city government, such changes are the first step to the "new rules of the game". Thus, in 2015, they will hold the main tender for transportation on many routes and it will have stricter requirements, particularly concerning the age of vehicles and means for transportation of handicapped passengers.

Also, Yuri Belyakov, answering the questions regarding the implementation of local authorities’ and carriers’ promises to substantially improve the quality of transportation, said that video surveillance cameras would soon be installed at terminal stops. The requirements on GPS navigators will be set out only in future tenders. However, it is clear that these systems are necessary rather for transport owners and municipal authorities – for the purpose of control.

As for the polite attitude towards passengers, the deputy mayor said they control that continuously, in any case you can complain and the rude driver will be fired.
