Today, March 7, on Narodna Square in Uzhgorod, as part of the Shevchenko days celebration there was the laying of flowers at the monument to Shevchenko. Great poet lived only 47 years. Today all Ukraine celebrates the 199th anniversary of the birth of the great poet, artist, philosopher and genius of the nation.
The ceremony was attended by the regional council chairman Ivan Baloha, the Governor Oleksandr Ledyda, the leadership of the regional center, members of the regional council, representatives of political parties, public and creative unions.
Before the ceremony the Honored Transcarpathian Folk Choir sang "Thoughts, My Thoughts", and after it – "Prayer for Ukraine".
