After the Hungarians, Romanians complicated border crossing for Transcarpathians too

Recently uzhgorod.in reported that Hungarian customs officers began repairs at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border crossing point Chop-Zahony and therefore those who wish to travel to Hungary should choose another checkpoint. Today it became known that at the Ukrainian-Romanian border crossing point "Solotvyno" – "Sighetu Marmației" the vehicular traffic will be closed for a few days, and only pedestrians will be allowed.

March 21, 2013, the Romanian party informed the management of Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment, that on 28 and 29 of March 2013 they would be carrying out repair work on the bridge over the Tisa river, between checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine "Solotvyno" and "Sighetu Marmației" and therefore the vehicular traffic will be limited. Only people on foot will be allowed to cross the border.

In this regard, we recommend residents and visitors of Transcarpathia to refrain from trips through checkpoints "Solotvyno" and "Sighetu Marmației" on March 28 and 29, 2013 –
the Deputy Chief of Staff of Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment Lt. Colonel Kostyantyn Hulevaty informed uzhgorod.in.
