"Your son hit a child. Send the money for the surgery"

In addition to frauds with bank cards, telephone fraudsters know other ways to steal money from citizens. A 73-year-old resident of the city of Lviv became the victim of one of those.

An unknown person called on the mobile phone of the pensioner and said that her son, the director of an Uzhgorod limited liability company, had hit a child and, as a result of the accident, the victim needed emergency surgery. At the request of the fraudster, the trusting mother immediately went to the nearest branch of the bank and transferred 17,000 UAH. Then, the old lady immediately went to Uzhgorod. But only on arrival she found out that in fact there had been no accident.

It turned out that the money had been withdrawn in Lviv. The investigation on this matter has been started.
