The Statement of the United Centre
The United Center condemns the government efforts to create artificial division in society and label opposition supporters as fascists. Using propaganda techniques characteristic of totalitarian regimes, the Party of Regions and its political allies once again are trying to divide Ukrainians.
The rallies of state employees and paid for activists best demonstrate the agony of the government and its inability to address issues of corruption, real reform, lowering living standards. With these technological methods the government is trying to divert people’s attention from the supression of democracy, establishing total control over the legislature, judiciary and local government.
The United Center urges citizens to ignore the massive provocations of the government and came to protest on May 18. Such a move is not only support of the opposition. This is an opportunity to defend democratic and European future of Ukraine, the right to live in a civilized country.
