Hungary remains the most popular country for Transcarpathian immigrants
Efficiency and development of Ukrainian-Hungarian border cooperation were discussed at today's meeting of the Chief of the State Migration Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region Igor Mykhailyshyn with representatives of the Institute of Social Studies TARKI (Budapest) Ohlarka Salai and Kristina La Tore and the vice-president of CBC Fund Oleg Pylypenko. Hungarian researchers were interested in the effect of proximity to the borders on the migration in the region, prospects for participation of the Office of the SMS in the region in cross-border projects.
Igor Mykhailyshyn, in turn, noted the close cooperation that has developed between the migration service of the region and the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod. In addition, this neighboring country remains traditionally the most popular for emigration among Transcarpathians. Last year 253 Transcarpathian went to Hungary for permanent residence, and another 54 - for the first three months of this year.
