Delegation of the Czech Vysocina: "In Transcarpathia we found real friends!"
Yesterday, a big delegation of the Vysocina region, led by the Hetman Jiri Byehounek, came to Transcarpathia. It consisted of deputies and heads of departments of the Vysocina government, the Mayor of Uzhgorod sister city of Jihlava Jaroslav Vymazal, his deputy Petr Pospihal, members and other representatives of local governments of towns and villages, journalists of the region.
While staying in Transcarpathia, the delegation will visit some districts, gets acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage, tourist and natural gems of the Carpathians, will take part in the cultural program of the festival.
On Thursday, the delegation traveled to Uzhgorod, Perechyn and Velyky Berezny districts. In the morning they climbed to the Nevytsky castle, got acquainted with the history and legends of this ancient fortress. In Velyky Berezny district they stopped near the District Hospital, on the facade of which a memorial plaque to T.H.Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia is installed. Czech guests visited Volosyanka, where they visited one of the kindergartens, the house of culture where one of the joint investment projects - replacement of the roof - is planned to be implemented this year.
Then the visitors headed to Stuzhytsya where two years ago with the help of Vysocina region they had built a kindergarten for 40 children. Here, the deputies reviewed the conditions created for kids of the mountain village. The Chairman of the regional council Ivan Baloha and the Hetman of the Vysocina Jiri Byehounek gave kids fruit, sweets and toys. And small pupils welcomed Czech philanthropists with songs and poetic greetings.
No less interesting for Czech visitors was the tour in Uzhansky National Park, where they had the opportunity to experience its unique diversity of flora and fauna, including local beech woods that are part of the World Heritage Site.
Hetman of Vysocina Jiri Byehounek noted that regional deputies, the community of the Czech region are satisfied with the cooperation with Transcarpathia. "This year we have increased the funding for joint projects by one million krons - up to six million. In the mountainous regions of Transcarpathia we will reconstruct kindergartens, schools and medical facilities. Today we saw the results of our six-year collaboration, and I want to note: this is the land where we found good friends" - Jiri Byehounek summed up.
