Chop customs officials knowingly broke the Italian seal

Inspectors of the smuggling and customs violations fighting service of the Chop customs, during the clearance of the cargo from Italy at the customs post "Tisa", discovered forged documents and inaccurate data on goods worth more than 333,000 UAH.

According to shipping documents, the cargo titled "ceramic tile and glass mosaic", weighing 21 tons worth 9,257,000 dollars, was transported to a Dnipropetrovsk company. Although the truck came with intact custom seal of Italian customs authorities, Chop inspectors decided to unload the goods, in order to ensure the conformity of number of positions, name and value of goods. After a thorough rummage, in the semitrailer they detected a glass mosaic manufactured by "Trend Group spa", costing almost 32,000 euros and not indicated in the customs declaration and the documents submitted.

In addition, the customs officers found another set of documents with the invoice, transport document and the packing list indicating the actual list of goods.   In such a way the violators tried to avoid paying a much higher customs duties and taxes for imported goods.

So, for provision of untrue information to customs authorities, a protocol on violation of customs rules under Article 483, Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was drawn up against the driver. This article provides a fine in the amount of 100% of the subject of offense value, which is 333,194.77 UAH. Currently, illegal goods were seized and sent to the customs warehouse untill the court decision.
