A smuggler lost his Mercedes-Benz
Trying to carry hidden tobacco products across the border, a Romanian citizen lost not only the goods, but also the means for its illegal transportation. Thus, for breach of customs legislation, the foreigner will be fined, and the car, where the tobacco was hidden, will be confiscated, the Chop customs reported.
Today (08.05.13) at five o'clock, a 22-year-old driver of the car "MERSEDES BENZ 124" 250 D arrived at the customs post "Ďakovo" on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. The man chose "green corridor" for customs clearance. But Chop inspectors decided to conduct an in-depth inspection of his vehicle. 120 packs of filtered cigarettes «JIN LING» with Ukrainian excise stamps were in the spare wheel cavity, the remaining 150 packs of the same brand were hidden in a niche under the fuel tank.
For committing a violation of customs regulations, provided by Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, a protocol was drawn up against the citizen of Romania. The hidden cigarettes and the car worth about 80,000 UAH were seized until the court decision.
