The mayor's office acknowledged: there are problems with the city markets

All officials dealing with city markets were gathered in Uzhgorod City Council - there was the meeting with the managers of Uzhgorod markets, representatives of veterinary medicine, health services, city police. The mayor was primarily interested in the state of business activities at the markets of the city.

The SES representative said that all markets are registered in the state sanitary service. This year, the markets have not been inspected. Unlike SES, the veterinary service checks Uzhgorod markets every quarter. The most frequent violations are sales of home-made products and products without laboratory examination.

Another important issue discussed was elimination of spontaneous trade near markets.     Among other problems, they also mentioned poor sanitary conditions at the markets, lack of coordination regarding waste removal, lack of stormwater drains, proper asphalt or any other pavement, which leads to accumulation of dirt between the shopping aisles, unsatisfactory fire safety.

At the end of the meeting, the mayor Victor Pogorelov said that he intends to meet with the managers of the markets in 2 weeks and within this time they must solve the problems at their facilities.
