"Temple of Mammon" near the "Ukraina"? In Uzhgorod there will be a new shopping center
"The Temple of Mammon" is the name social networks users gave to the project of a shopping center that is to be built on the free space between the department store "Ukraina" and the so-called "Smerichka."
Residents of the city know that this area has been vacant for years. Specifically, it has been enclosed by a fence around which spontaneous trade has been carried out.
Then, in late winter, the situation was somewhat cleared up - they placed a sketch on the fence.
However, after that the project was again stalled. Instead, the public interest was raised. Details of the project and citizens' opinion about it is in the comments to the illustration by Andriy Nimets posted in the "Architecture of Uzhgorod" group.
He nicknamed the building "The Temple of Mammon," community members criticize the project, including due to the fact that there is an abandoned department store nearby, which they believe should be reconstructed (or demolished), and the currently vacant area should be turned into a public space.
But, it seems, the intentions about this mall are serious.
