The issue of employment was discussed on Wednesday, June 26, at the Board of the Regional State Administration. The meeting was attended by the Governor and his deputies, heads of all districts of Transcarpathia and heads of regional offices and departments.

Currently, nearly 531 thousand residents of Transcarpathia are employed. At the same time, the unemployment rate is still about 8%. According to Yuri Fuschych, the head of the Regional employment center, during the last year thanks to the cooperation of employment services, local authorities and businesses they managed to employ 8.3 thousand Transcarpathians. Also, 2.2 thousand Transcarpathians have taken retraining courses, 1,5 thousand changed specialty on request of employers. Another 126 countrymen started their own businesses with state subsidies. Also they managed to find jobs for 83 orphans and young people without parental care.

Almost 60% of the unemployed countrymen, according to official figures, live in mountainous areas. Therefore, the law will encourage young professionals who will choose rural enterprises and institutions as their first place of work. If an employment contract for at least 3 years is concluded, a person will be provided with accommodation for the period of his or her work and one-off targeted assistance in the amount of ten times the minimum wage at the expense of the state budget. And if a young worker has worked in such locality a decade and more, the housing will be granted into his or her ownership.
