154 fire departments were formed to work in the heat
On Wednesday, June 19, there was the selector meeting of the Commission for technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies, chaired by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul.
As noted at the meeting by the Deputy Prime Minister, in 2013 the number of forest fires in Ukraine has halved. If in 2012, for the same period there were nearly 800 fires, in 2013 - there were 433. This is primarily the result of the appropriate preventive measures. Since hot weather is expected in the majority of the country, Oleksandr Vilkul instructed all services that are part of the Commission to continuously monitor the fire situation and to respond quickly to threats.
In the Transcarpathian region each year, control of forest protection is carried by 20 stationary monitoring posts, 750 patrols. In 2013, they formed 154 fire departments, consisting of 973 persons, to locate and eliminate forest fires during the fire hazard period.
In 2013, there was one wildfire in the region. During the fire hazard period in 2012, there were ten forest fires in the region, over the area of more than 39 hectares - the press-center of the RSA reported.
