The largest solar power station in Western Ukraine is in Uzhgorod district
Nearly 43,000 units of solar panels on 23 acres - the power station in Irlyava in Uzhgorod district is the largest in Western Ukraine. The electricity generated there is enough to provide entire Velyky Berezny district or 10% of the needs of Uzhgorod city and Uzhgorod district. The annual capacity of the plant is 10.09 MW, here they produce 9.6 kilowatts per hour.
"All modules have special protection. therefore neither hail, nor snow, nor any mechanical damage do not threaten them, - the project investor Bogdan Andriyiv said. - The batteries are installed at 30 degrees angle to the ground at such distance from each other that prevents them from casting shadow on each other. And they are self-cleaning, so the only staff at the plant are guards." According to him, the idea to invest in alternative energy originated when he was traveling in Europe. Another important factor is that solar power is totally safe for the environment - there is no carbon dioxide and other toxic emissions. "The duration of sunlight here is 2,000 hours per year, and the annual energy potential of solar energy is 140 thousand tons of fuel. Another motivating factor is the so-called "green tariff" in our country. It aims to support such investment projects - the state guarantees connectivity to the grid, long-term contract for the purchase of energy produced and an increase in its value." - Bogdan Andriyiv said.
