Iryna Martin: "... when the fire is around you, it makes a noise, it warms, it attracts"
That is how Iryna Martin from Uzhgorod describes her fascination with fire performances. She has recently graduated from the faculty of international relations, however, she does not rule out that working with fire will will become her profession.
For the members of the "Fire life" Fire Theater (and there are already more than ten of them) in Uzhgorod, "exercises" with fire are an exciting job or a hobby. Uzhgorod boys and girls, mostly college-age, for three years now have been training to make complex shapes with fire in their hands. The repertoire of the Uzhgorod theater has various shapes. Recently, they included fireworks in their performances, which only adds excitement to the show. Boys and girls are invited to various holidays and festivals, therefore they have to work out and update the technique and the numbers all the time. When possible, they train for several hours a week.
Iryna Martin started her skills in fire show with an element called pui. It is a tool on a chain. Now she trains with a fan design, ".. the fire gives such a a mysterious, strong energy, it captivates. When the fire is around you, it makes a noise, it warms, it attracts. When I started doing it, I never thought to perform in public. And then it so happened that I began to perform and people like it. And this is, of course, very pleasing," - the girl says.
Such performances are very impressive. Smooth and accurate movements in the air create a picture painted by the fire. Such canvases are particularly impressive at night.
Fire artists, twin sisters Svitlana and Lyubov Kyniv come from Irshava. In Uzhgorod, they studied at the university. At the same time they participated in the medieval reenactment club. And then, they began to do fire performances. Lyuba says: "... now it is a hobby.Well, actually it developes co-ordination of the body, and synchronizes the right and left hemispheres of the brain (smiles).Generally, it is a very good workout. Yes, it's a hobby. And at the same time, a way to make some money - Svitlana adds. - One performance can bring 250 UAH.It depends."
By the way, today in the team, there are more girls than boys. We noticed that at the training.
We asked each of the team members whether they had any fear of fire. All of them assured that the fear may be only at the beginning of exercises and training. But every performance, every mastered figure or movement only fuels the desire to continue to play with fire and sharpen their skills. Now, the "Fire life" Fire Theater are working on new numbers. Boys and girls make up and produce them themselves using their own imagination and experience. And all that is accompanied by the music.
