Hot pursuit and a bat: the arrest of carjackers in Khust district (Details)

As informed, on Sunday morning, a Khust resident reported the theft of his car from his house yard. The management of the city police department immediately initiated the plan "Interception" and notified all traffic police units.

At one of the police posts, traffic police inspectors Mykhailo Popovich and Igor Fedyai saw a vehicle, similar to the stolen one, moving at a breakneck speed towards them. This car had no license plate. At the legitimate request of a police officer to stop, the driver just increased the speed and drove on. Inspectors began the pursuit. After a few kilometers, the policemen caught up the car.

During the arrest, offenders tried to resist the police officers. One of them grabbed a bat and attacked the inspectors. However, the police officers arrested the offenders and handcuffed them.

The operative team left for the scene. The men were taken to the city police department. As it turned out, the carjackers were unemployed local residents, one of whom had been tried under Articles 187, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Robbery."

The found car was delivered to the impound lot.

This incident was registered in the Unified register of pretrial investigations under Article 289 part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal possession of a vehicle by a group of individuals."
