  Vynogradiv policemen were sentenced for bribe taking (PHOTOS)

   The judgment of Vynogradiv District Court in Transcarpathian region against two former officers of district police, who demanded and received bribes, has entered into force.

         The policemen demanded from a local resident 2.5 thousand dollars for relieving his son from trial for drug possession.

  In January 2012, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained one of the police officers "red handed" when he was receiving the bribe in a city cafe. On the same day, the detectives arrested his accomplice at the precinct.

The offenders were prosecuted under Part 3 of Art.368 (bribery, combined with extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Vynogradiv District Court found the former police officers guilty and sentenced them to 5 years imprisonment with the appointment of probationary period of 3 years. The court also deprived them of the right to hold office, connected with the functions of government representative in law enforcement for a period of 3 years.
