The girl, who fell ill with meningitis, is already in the regional infectious diseases hospital
The Chief Medical Officer of Transcarpathia Volodymyr Markovich confirmed to uzhgorod.in, that in Perechyn a girl indeed had contracted meningitis. However, he emphasized that that is not an outbreak, but just a deteriorating situation.
In Transcarpathia, up to 20 cases of this disease are reported yearly. And this year there have already been 2 cases. He assured that in the class room, where the schoolgirl had studied, all the necessary quarantine measures had been taken, the people that had contacted with the patient had been examined. So, according to doctors, it is not necessary to close the school.
Vasyl Petrovich said that traditionally meningitis is more common in winter and spring, so in case of signs of lingering illness, one must go to the doctor immediately.
