The logic of the government is incomprehensible for their fellow party members: minority languages will disappear from Transcarpathian broadcast
Deputies of Ukraine Istvan Gajdos and Ivan Popescu, the Party of Regions members, appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting about reducing broadcasting in minority languages at state TV.
According to the publication KarpatNews, with reference to the press service of I.Gajdos, the chairman of the Democratic Union of Hungarians of Ukraine and the President of the Interregional Association "Romanian Community of Ukraine" are convinced that "the planned activities will affect the realization of linguistic and cultural rights of minorities". The leaders of national societies are concerned that even today a few programs in Transcarpathian minority languages are made and broadcast, therefore it is unacceptable to reduce their volume and personnel.
After prior agreement, the report states, this issue is planned to be submitted for consideration by the Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations in order to appeal to the relevant institutions.
