A resident of Mukachevo while being drunk, fell on the railway track and lost a foot

November 7, around 05.07, the Transcarpathian prosecutor to oversee the observance of laws in the field of transport received a call from Mukachevo station, reporting that at 04.45, a machinist of freight train had used the emergency brake near Mukachevo station to prevent hitting a 28-year-old resident of Mukachevo.

The man, being drunk, lost his balance and fell on the track, receiving injuries. An ambulance delivered him to the Mukachevo district hospital with a diagnosis of traumatic amputation of the left foot, traumatic shock. Currently, the victim is in the intensive care unit.

According to the Transcarpathian prosecutor to oversee the observance of laws in the field of transport Igor Syekhin, the incident is pre-classified under Art. 276 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of safety or operation rules of rail, water or air transport), the information has been included in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations.  Investigation department at Mukachevo station of Lviv railway started pre-trial investigation, under the control of the Transcarpathian prosecution to oversee the observance of laws in the field of transport, initial investigation aimed at establishing the objective circumstances of the accident are being conducted.
