The other day, a resident of the village of Verkhni Remety in Beregovo district reported to Beregovo District Police that the driver of an unidentified vehicle ran into an electric power pylon and a fence of a house. The applicant requested law enforcement authorities to track down the driver, who had fled from the scene, causing her material damage.
In hot pursuit officers of Beregovo District Police established that the crime had been committed by a 22-year-old resident of the neighboring village of Nyzhni Remety, while driving a car "Renault".
The police initiated a preliminary investigation of a criminal offense over this fact under Part 1 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional destruction of or damage to another’s property, which caused damage on a large scale). The guilty party faces a fine up to 50 tax-free minimum incomes, correctional labor for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
