Uzhgorod police found the thief of car wheels... via the Internet

A resident of Mukachevo district took the wheels from another person's car in Uzhgorod, and sold them to a resident of Tyachiv district. Thus, he hoped to escape punishment, but to no avail...

Recently, a 26-year-old local resident appealed to Uzhgorod police. The man reported that an unknown person had dismantled four wheels with titanium disks from his car "VAZ-2108". The vehicle was parked in the yard.

The investigative team arrived at the scene. Thanks to professional actions of law enforcement officers, the theft was solved.

The policemen checked the markets and shopping malls, monitored online stores selling car parts. Soon, the hard work gave its results. On one of the Internet sites, police officers saw the wheels with titanium blades, described by the victim. They called at the listed number of a mobile phone and scheduled an appointment.

Wasting no time, the detectives left for the town of Teresva in Tyachiv district - that is where the seller resides. At the meeting with the police, the man told that he had purchased the wheels from his friend in Mukachevo district at a bargain price. Having identified thus the thief, they not only proved his involvement in the crime, but also received his confessions to the crime.

As explained by the offender, he was in need of money, because he had no work. He sold the stolen wheels and the money spent on food and clothing.

The physical evidence was seized and returned to the rightful owner. The criminal proceeding over this fact has been initiated on the grounds of Part 1 of Art.185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This offense is punishable by fine or imprisonment for up to three years. The investigation continues.
