On Thursday, December 19, in the evening, festive lights were lit on the on the main Christmas tree of the region – on Narodna Square, in front of the Regional State Administration and the Regional Council.
The green beauty had been being prepared for the holiday for almost a week. The 15 meters high fir tree was brought from the woods near the village of Lazeshchyna in Rakhiv district. Already in Uzhgorod, on the square, they attached some more branches to the tree – thus it looks more beautiful.
They were decorating the Christmas tree for 2 days.
Also they set five strobes on the square. Their total energy consumption is 1.6 kW / h (that’s less than half than that of, for example, ordinary household iron). In general, all the lighting on the square and fairy lights on the tree are energy saving.
Also, for the official lighting of the Christmas tree, they set benches and New Year light figurines on the square. For the first time, they also set special speakers – during the holidays, Christmas tunes will be heard on the square.
The main Christmas tree of the region was lit during the performance of the traditional Christmas "Shchedryk" by the Transcarpathian folk choir. Afterwards, the children’s group performed a few short songs, and the kids on stage and on the square received presents.
The Christmas tree will be standing there, traditionally, until the end of the holiday season – the press-center of the RSA informed.
