A resident of Mukachevo is prosecuted for stealing of arbovitae

The owner caught a 44-year-old unemployed man, who had stolen arbovitae from the yard of his private home in Mukachevo. The man called the police. Upon arrival, the policemen arrested the man and brought criminal charges against him.

Thefts of green trees have recently become popular not only in our city but also beyond. Most often, according to law enforcement officers, criminals steal young seedlings that are easy to pull out and sell.

Recently, the police officers of the city were reported about the theft of two young arborvitae seedlings in front of the exterior wall of a private house in Mukachevo.

Once arrived on the scene, patrol officers with local policeman detained a previously convicted resident of Mukachevo who had alsready stolen one tree and was trying to pull out another one. However, having noticed the owner, who called police officers, the suspect began to flee.

This fact was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations, and a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft) has been opened. This offense is punishable by a fine in the amount of up to 50 free minimum incomes, correctional labor for up to two years or imprisonment for up to three years - Natalia Mashiko, Mukachevo City Police Department informed.
