The Minister of Poland is visiting Transcarpathia

Today, the head of the government of Poland on veterans and repressed people affairs, the Minister Stanislaw Jan Tsyehanovski visited Transcarpathia.

 In Uzhgorod, he met with the chairman of the regional council Ivan Baloha and the manager of the affairs of the regional council executive staff Mykhailo Popovich. The meeting was also attended by the Consul General of Poland in Lviv Jaroslaw Drozd, the head of the department of the cooperation with Poland citizens in Ukraine of the Consulate General of Poland in Lviv Marian Orlikovski and the Assistant Consul General Alina Savitska.

Welcoming the guests, Ivan Baloha thanked for attention to Transcarpathia, which has close economic and cultural ties with local communities in Poland.

The Minister Jan Stanislav Tsyehanovski often comes to Ukraine to fulfill his duties. But it is his first visit to Transcarpathia.  He was struck by the beauty of Uzhgorod, and our region as a whole. It is therefore important to have a border crossing point in Transcarpathia, which directly borders to Subcarpathian Voivodeship.  Namely, "Lubnya-Volosate." Even if it would be only for pedestrian and bicycle crossing. But it will give Polish tourists access to natural and tourist facilities of the region.

The Polish Minister noted the importance of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War, which resulted in Poland gaining the independence. In this regard the parties discussed the cooperation of local governments and NGOs of the border regions of Ukraine and Poland for the preservation of cultural heritage, graves of victims of the world wars.

During the visit, Jan Stanislaw Tsyehanovski had a meeting with representatives of the Polish community in Transcarpathia, saw the historical and cultural attractions of the city.
