About 20 protesters at the Regional Council building are interns of Uzhgorod National University, who became hostages of an unpleasant situation.

The fact is that internship is supposed to be financed at the expense of the Ministry of Health, which have not allocated funds to Uzhgorod National University.

2 years ago the MES was prohibited to finance internship, so now no one except the Ministry of Health have the right to allocate public funds for it. One of the possible options is to study outside of Transcarpathia. But there is no guarantee that in other universities the situation is any better.

- As an alternative, the rector of UzhNU Fedir Vashchuk offered students to sign a contract, which contains special provisions: "If the university receives funds for the internship, the payment, which was received by the University under this contract, shall be returned."  That is, once the MH sends UzhNU the funds, the money will be returned to interns. And if the Ministry provides further funding, they will continue their education at the expense of budget funds - the Vice-Rector Yuri Peresta said at the meeting.

In any case, the decision should be taken by the interns. But it needs to be taken by August 15.Otherwise, they risk to be left without internship at all.

According to general consent, future doctors will write an appeal to the prosecutor. We will see how the situation will develop in the future.
