"4 paws" are planning to sterilize more than half of stray dogs in Uzhgorod

In few days the Austrian volunteer veterinarians will arrive in the city to help local animal rights activists solve the problem of stray animals.

According to Vira Romanova, the head of the animal protection charity "Help a Friend", the arrival of foreign donors to Uzhgorod is expected on August 19. The next day they will begin their work, which is scheduled for three weeks. During this time, as previously reported by the "Zelene Zakarpattya" with reference to Vira Romanova, foreign veterinarians will be performing sterilization and vaccination of stray cats and dogs as well as poor residents' pets.

"4 paws" are going to treat up to 30 animals a day, which in three-week period will cover more than half of the current number of stray dogs. Mrs. Vira said that Austrians are willing to cooperate and share their experiences with our veterinarians and animal rights activists.

According to Vira Romanova, the success of such large-scale plans in solving the problems of stray animals in Uzhgorod to a large extent depends on the willingness and readiness of the city residents to help foreign professionals. Any help in transportation of animals, keeping them after medical intervention, arrangement of cages is welcomed. Another local animal protection organization "BARBOS" and Mukachevo "Animal Control Center" expressed the desire to help foreign volunteers and provide full conditions for transportation, handling, vaccination and keeping of the animals. The head of the "Help a Friend" Vira Romanova said that she intended to hold a press conference for massive publicity of the event in our city.
