In Transcarpathia, the people rebelled against deforestation
Yesterday, the deputy head of the regional administration Mykhailo Popovich held in Tyachiv district state administration the meeting on deforestation in several localities of the district. The issue, in particular concerned the villages of Ruske Pole, Chumalovo and Tereblya.
Regarding the first two settlements, they agreed with the village heads on the sanitary felling of 50 and 200 cubic meters of trees, respectively. As for Tereblya, it involved works of a larger scale. According to the representative of the village council, villagers protested against logging in the V. Rosul tract, due to failure to provide documents and justify the need for cutting.
According to the Director General of the State Enterprise "Transcarpathian regional department of forest agricultural farms" Vitaly Smolin, the cutting is sanitary. All required documents are available, the conflict clearly has arisen because of the lack of communication between the branch of "Zakarpatahrolis" and the village council.
In turn, Mykhailo Popovich said:
- The village community have a right to know what is happening on their land. So, from today, before starting work in any locality of the region, you must first notify the local authorities.
Vitaly Smolin promised that such work procedure will be set out in appropriate orders.
