Chop Customs' "catch": a fancy SUV, brand clothing, cigarettes and 6 tons of alcohol
During January-March 2013, officers of the Chop customs have drawn up 896 reports of customs rules violations in the amount of 15,5 million hryvnias. Most violations have been recorded on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border at the customs post "Tisa" - 326 cases worth 6.6 million hryvnias.
Among the significant achievements of the detained so-called "commodity" contraband are brand clothing, accessories, shoes, handbags, perfumes, linen (of leading foreign manufacturers: «Dior», «Valentino», «Calvin Klein», «Moschino», «Prada», «Armani», «Stefanel», «Gino Rossi» and others), hidden among postal parcels. In this way, the dealers wanted to avoid paying more than a million hryvnias of taxes and fees to the budget. Therefore, by the court decision the commodity worth 6.1 million hryvnias was confiscated by the state.
A citizen of Moldova has given customs officers a forged letter of authorization for the car «DAIMLER AG MB 221" model S400 Hybrid. Currently the prestigious ultramodern SUV worth about 600,000 UAH, is "decorating" the warehouse of the customs authority. Considerable penalties have been imposed on the foreigner. The same fate befell an "Audi A8" with a gorged letter of authorization. The illegal car for 580,000 UAH was placed on the Chop customs impound lot.
In 289 cases they have seized various food products amounting to 1.4 million hryvnias, including 6,300 liters of alcoholic beverages worth 1.1 million hryvnias. 3.9 million hryvnias worth of industrial goods have been seized under 50 protocols.
As for the illegal transportation of tobacco products, the most significant arrest took place at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border at the crossing point "Luzhanka." In one of the trucks inspectors found and seized 159,820 packs of cigarettes worth 1.1 million hryvnias hidden from customs control. Also they have confiscated illegal bikes, parts and accessories, worth 2.2 million hryvnias.
In 9 cases they have detected illegal transportation of different weapons - air, knives and batons. In 52 cases of illegal transportation of psychotropic substances and precursors they have seized 247 tablets of codeine and dihydrocodeine, 28 buprenorphine tablets, 239 tablets and 1 bottle of tramadol, 1 gram of cannabis and 1,607 grams of psychotropic substances.
During the reporting period the Chop Customs referred to the police six reports of crimes on the grounds of Art. 201/305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
