At the current rate of construction the flat queue will disappear only in 400 years

As of January 1 this year, 8,118 families in the region are on the housing register. Of those, only 24 received their own homes last year. Meanwhile, in Transcarpathia the volume of construction works has decreased by a 25%: almost 380 million hryvnias have been invested in construction, 366 thousand square meters of living space have been commissioned. In the region, the average cost per square meter in 2012 was 4,431 UAH, in Ukraine - 5,142 UAH.

To stimulate home buying in Transcarpathia there is a number of programs to make it cheaper. Thus, under the youth credit program they have allocated 6,600,000 to reduce the cost of mortgages.  Through this program, 15 apartments on Universytetska street in Uzhgorod have been commissioned.  Also in the region there is a budget program to reduce the cost of mortgage loans for affordable housing.

As part of this program in 2012, 43 families of the regional center were able to improve their living conditions, and the developers received funds amounting to more than 14,600,000 UAH.
