Ukrainian politicians are distancing themselves from global issues
Among the 3080 election programs of the candidates, analyzed by the experts on the subject of environmental protection, two-thirds (1985) do not contain any mention of environmental issues. These are the results of the research conducted by the "Society and Environment" Resource & Analysis Center.
The authorities may only be shaken up by some environmental disaster, conclude analysts. While in all democratic countries environmental issues are a priority, in Ukraine out of the analyzed election programs of 22 political parties, only 36.4% have solid positions on environmental issues. 40.9% of parties
have no mention about environmental issues in their programs.
Thus, it seems that the parties / candidates do not understand which environmental issues are important today, focusing mainly on the issues of water and wastes.
Another interesting fact is that the regions that are traditionally considered to be contaminated, do not give much emphasis on the environment. Ecological champions proved to be Crimea and Ivano-Frankivsk region.
