Russian citizen in "Cadillac" "stuck" at the border because of a handgun
Yesterday (05.09.12) late night at the customs post "Tysa" Chop inspectors prevented the import of traumatic pistol to Ukraine.
Returning from Croatia to Russia by car of "Cadillac" brand through the territory of our country, 40-year-old Russian citizen during customs clearance chose the "green corridor".
Under Part 5 of Art. 366 of the Customs Code of Ukraine choosing of "green corridor" is deemed as the statement by a citizen that the goods carried by them are not subject to a written declaration, customs tax payments, do not fall under established law prohibitions and restrictions on importation into the customs territory of Ukraine or export outside this area and indicates the facts of legal significance.
However, customs officers decided to check the legality of foreigners crossing the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Thus, during the inspection of the car in the armrest between the front seats they found a traumatic gun and ammunition for it. Citizen of Russia immediately recognized the weapon as his property and explained that he had bought it back in 2008 at home. However, he did no have permits from the police to carry the gun across the border, as prescribed by applicable law.
So, for violation of the established procedure of the "green corridor" customs control zone and carrying weapons without permits, the protocol was written on the Russian citizen. The traumatic pistol and ammunition were seized - said Victoria Senhetovska, spokeswjman of Chop customs.
