Roma journalist told about the circumstances of the scandalous conversation with the "Governor" of Transcarpathia
The journalist of Roma editorial of "Tisa-1" channel Miroslav Horvat told about the circumstances of his scandalous meeting with the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda.
"I have long chaired the Transcarpathian Regional Association of Roma "Romani Cherhen" (Roma star). I am a permanent member of the world's Roma organizations, including the Roma World Organization "Rromanipen", - commented on the situation Miroslav Horvat. - In addition, since 2009 I have been working at Transcarpathian Regional State TV "Tisa-1" in the department of programs in minority languages. Our programs are quite famous in the region and beyond. The subjects of coverage are language, culture, way of life of the Roma.
And nowhere in any of these areas I have done anything political. On the contrary, I have always sought dialogue with the authorities. I am currently a member of the special committee that developed the full government support program for Roma "Roma Ukraine." The program is to be signed by the President of Ukraine this month. For my active position I was appointed as the Advisor to the Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
So I was frankly surprised by the reaction of Oleksandr Ledyda to the material in the newspaper "News of Transcarpathia." It is the newspaper of Transcarpathian Regional Council and Regional State Administration, which supports a wonderful doctor. The fact is that I said nothing new. And there is no political bias in my comments. I just made a comment for a fellow journalist, as I do whenever I am asked to. And where it is printed is not my business. I only care that the problems were covered, and by whom, and in what way does not matter. I think that if the problems are openly discussed, then we can solve them, the silence is counterproductive.
Oleksandr Ledyda asked me what I think about the material, and why I have such an attitude to the current government, as his adviser. I told him that I see nothing oppositional in this article. And all the charges are far-fetched and baseless. I believe that Oleksandr Ledyda was deliberately misinformed so that he asked me if I am with the present government or against it. I have always said and will say, as a public figure I am willing to work with anyone who wants to do something for the Roma minority.
September 25 I passed my certificate of adviser."
As Transcarpathia online previously reported, September 24, 2012, the journalist of Transcarpathian RSTBC "Tisa-1", public activist Miroslav Horvat met with the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda. The reason for the discussion was the special issue of the newspaper of Transcarpathian Regional Council and Regional State Administration "News of Transcarpathia." According to the initial data, the issue was prepared at the request of candidate for deputies of Ukraine in single-mandate constituency number 68 Volodymyr Smolanka and paid for from his campaign fund.
The second page of the issue contains the piece "Step towards. Roma community needs support." In this article the author of the material Mykhailo Koval asks for a comment of Miroslav Horvat as a social activist and journalist who is well acquainted with the life and problems of Roma.Miroslav Horvat told about the problems of schools in the city of Uzhgorod and wished that the Ukrainian government cared more about the development of Roma youth.
According to Miroslav Horvat, after the release of this newspaper in the morning he was called to the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda.
Meanwhile, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda through local press called this situation a misunderstanding.
