One has to work on the problems of their district every day – says Volodymyr Smolanka

On September 4, residents of border villages Tysaashvan, Tysauyfalu, Solomonove, Syurte, and Tyyhlash of Uzhgorod district hospitably received Director of the Center of Neurosurgery and Neurology, Transcarpathian Regional Council deputy Volodymyr Smolanka.
Although, as the candidate for deputy told himself, he has the election program and action plan, which he is going to implement in parliament, this time he came here to hear the opinion of villagers, to discuss issues that concern them most.

People asked Volodymyr Ivanovich about the new law concerning languages.  "Unfortunately, it seems to me that this law was passed only to establish Russian as a regional language. It’s was even confirmed by the deputy chairman of the Party of Regions Mykhailo Chechetov himself. He said that Bulgarian, Hungarian, Romanian, Hebrew languages are understood by only "a handful" of people. So in the Parliament they discuss only two languages (Russian and Ukrainian) which all the people understand – says Smolanka. – I think this law was adopted only for propaganda, and to once again cause the confrontation among the people. I do not agree with it! I want a law that would allow a person to freely express opinions and be understood."
Critical problems of the villagers of Tysaashvan concerning the railway, passing the village, need to be addressed at the national level. Due to poor transport interchanges, it is difficult to get to the village: the road is often blocked by freight trains and every time one has to wait about an hour. And Chop Railway Station, which occupies an area of 22 hectares, contributes nothing to the village budget. As a result, the village falls short of the target budget by almost 50%.  This situation also should be resolved at the state level: the taxes should be paid at the place of operation.
It is known that education and medical sphere of Transcarpathia are also in need of help. Given the national characteristics of our region, it is also necessary to increase the number of checkpoints so people in the neighbouring countries could maintain close relationships with friends or relatives who are historically separated by border.
