Mukachevo will have a new holiday - St. Martin's Day

The city on Latorica is preparing to original celebration of its patron's day.

Today, Tuesday, September 11, honorary citizen of the city Victor Baloha and Mayor Zoltan Lendyel together with tourism expert Fedir Sandor, sculptor Mykhailo Kolodko and journalist Oleksandr Popovich gathered in Mukachevo City Hall to discuss the idea of ​​celebration. The initiative group discussed the details and next steps in organizing holidays.

Baloha already told details of St. Martin's Day in Mukachevo on his page in Facebook: «Good news for those who want to go in Mukachevo: you can plan a trip for November 11. I'm telling you this "secret" that almost noone else knows :) So, this year, the city launches the annual celebration of St. Martin's Day - this is the patron saint of our city.

 Saint Martin's Day is celebrated throughout Europe. It is both a celebration of the first wine, and something similar to our St. Nicholas Day. Guys offered to revive this festival here in Mukachevo," - the politician and an honorary citizen of the city Victor Baloha said.

"What we have planned? There will be a parade in the center of the city with knights in armor. In Mukachevo castle there will be tasting of cheeses and young wines. We will also, according to European traditions, bake geese and "give wine to land." This is also a ritual. Thanks to Fedir Sandor and Mykhailo Kolodko for great ideas. All their achievements in the field of tourism, all progressive ideas will be embodied in Mukachevo. In just 2 days, thanks to mayor Zoltan Lendyel we managed to resolve the issue with chocolate workshop and celebration of St. Martin's. And this is just the beginning " - Baloha added. St. Martin's Day celebration is scheduled for November, and has to become a traditional holiday.
